This photo was taken on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. One of the best/prettiest day walks in the world. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is located in New Zealand on the North Island. It runs over an active volcano named Mt. Tongariro and runs along Mt. Ngauruhoe. The latter can be climbed as an extra side trip, if the weather allows it.

Both mountains were the scene locations for the 'Lord of the Rings', because Mount Doom was filmed there....

Pretty awesome, I'm impressed. I love how light and darkness play together here. Even if it wasn't in NZ I'd always think it looks a bit like you're standing on the sunny side, with the view into Mordor! And I suppose it's indeed true that you had the light behind you (or from the side) for this shot? Texture, image motion and mood, composition... it just comes together. Well done!

Thank you very much for your comment. Ich liebe es!
It was in the afternoon, so I indeed had the light for the side.

Why thank you, but then again, none as natural looking and intriguing by their light as this ^^
